By Michael Angel. Donations go to St. James Infirmary.
This is my fourth release. The concept is something we are all familiar with. The perpetual pull between control and surrender. Facing our fears, allowing ourselves to experience the unknown, enduring a seemingly impossible feat and acknowledging when our actions have inflicted pain on someone else or even ourselves.
The lyrics and subsequent music video explore the world of BDSM.
Since my muse for this project is a sex worker, I decided to donate this release to the community that is all too often stigmatized. There are thousands of people who rely on this industry to survive. The Trump administration passed FOSTA/SESTA bills into law, claiming it's to prevent human trafficking. The sad reality is that these laws have a much greater impact on the sex worker community, preventing them from conducting business online and having such safeguards where their clients are held accountable for possible crimes. Eliminating such platforms only prevents the very important discussions of health, safety, and education from happening and further silences an already marginalized community.
St. James Infirmary is against the criminalization of Sex Work and offers free health care and social services to current and former sex workers. They are founded on the principles of harm reduction, and peer-based community building.
